Newborn TWINS Home Session

Newborn Twins Session Krystal Healy Photography

Last September, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing newborn TWINS! Two precious little baby twin boys from Indiana, PA! The family was just one of the cutest little families I’ve ever worked with! And the babies were the most well behaved newborns I’ve EVER had the pleasure of photographing.

Newborn Twin Baby Boy Photo Shoot at Home | Indiana, PA

Mom and Dad chose to have an in-home lifestyle photo session with me. I love these types of sessions because I’m always really able to capture the environment the babies live in their first few months at home. How the nursery looks. How tiny those little hands and feet really are. And, the real and raw vulnerability of new parents. These are heirloom photos that the boys will be able to look back on and see how their lives were from the start — photos that will help to tell their story.

These two adorable little fellows were complete superstars! We did have them both naked for just ONE photo. Mom, Dad and I didn’t want to risk leaving them out of their diapers for too long — especially with so many light colored surfaces. But they were perfect little angels the whole time! No accidents and nobody got peed on! We promptly put the diapers back after I got my shots, though. We didn’t want to test our luck.

Overall, it was a great shoot! Mom and Dad were absolutely glowing the entire session. Were they tired? Sure. But I could tell that these two little guys were going to grow up in a wonderful home full of love and joy. It was a true honor to be able to capture these joyous little memories on film. I wish this wonderful family all of the best! Way to go, Mom and Dad, for bringing two more wonderful little lights into the world!

Pittsburgh Newborn Photography Sessions with Krystal Healy Photography

I absolutely ADORE newborn photo sessions. Most of the time, there’s no need to take the little ones out of the home. I know being a new parent can be exhausting, I so try my hardest to cater to you as much as I can in terms of getting the shots you’re comfortable with.

If you’re in or around the Pittsburgh area and looking to do a newborn photo session with your new little love, I always encourage parents to schedule the photo shoot early on, when the baby is still only a few weeks old. Babies are tired little lazy bums in the beginning and that always makes for a much easier session on everyone, including the newborn.

Feel free to GET IN TOUCH with me and let’s schedule your newborn photo shoot so that we can capture those wonderful little memories before they are all grown up!

rainy day wedding tips krystal healy

How to make the best out of bad weather on your wedding day!

We live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It rains here. A lot. It’s also beautiful, and the people are fabulous. We love our city! With that said, it doesn’t mean you should turn a blind eye to our temperamental weather when you’re planning your Pittsburgh wedding day. Always be prepared – that’s our motto! Bad weather happens, it could be rain, or snow. What should you do? Here are five tips on how to make the best out of bad weather on your wedding day!

Ways to Make the Best out of a Rainy Wedding Day

[h3]Have a Rain Plan with your Wedding Venue
When making a choice on a Pittsburgh wedding venue, choose one that has a backup plan. This especially applies to outdoor venues. What their rain plan? Is there a tent available? Can your outdoor wedding ceremony be moved somewhere indoors? Make sure that the rain plan is something that still makes you happy. If the back-up ceremony location is a dimly lit, dingy barn instead of a sweeping sunny hillside, that’s not a surprise you want on your wedding day. Review your plan B when you’re selecting your venue.

Think through your Wedding Photos

If it rains, where will you do photos? Have you seen wedding photos taken there? Do you like how they turned out? As a wedding photographer, I am happy to help with this. When there isn’t light, I can make light, but your vision of your wedding and your wedding photography is important.

Dance in the Rain

Are you adventurous? If you’re open to it, we can get GREAT photos in the rain. With and without an umbrella! There is magic that can happen in the rain with the right light!

Remember your Bridal Party

If your venue doesn’t provide them, I recommend purchasing enough umbrellas for your entire bridal party. I have some as well! It’s nice for you to pick out your own though, just in case. Plus, pictures with everyone holding matching umbrellas against the stormy sky can be very dramatic.

Rain is Good Luck!

Don’t stress! They say rain on the wedding day is good luck. Who doesn’t want to start their marriage with a dose of good luck!?

Rainy Day Wedding Photography

Last wedding season (2018) I had MAJOR rain on 5 out of 33 weddings. That is quite a bit! But, in each of those weddings, we were well prepared with a rain plan and my couples took it like absolute champs. We were able to make wedding photo magic. A few of my couples actually told me they HOPED it would rain so they could get some photos like the ones I’d been posting. It’s all because of the preparation!

If you’re ready for it, rain on your wedding day isn’t an issue. And for me, it’s a fun challenge to think outside of the box. Please enjoy some of my favorite rainy-day wedding portraits! And thank you to my associate wedding photographer, Lizzy for the rainy-day photos over at The Gardens of Stonebridge!

Steve and Meagan’s Disney Cruise Wedding

Disney Cruise Wedding krystal healy

On January 25, I was lucky enough to be the wedding photographer and for Steve and Meagan’s Disney Cruise line wedding on the Disney Dream!

Steve and Meagan’s Disney Cruise Line Destination Wedding

This bride and groom decided on a Disney Cruise Line destination wedding with a gathering of close friends and family! It was their first cruise, but also their wedding! It was only fitting that these two tie the knot on a Disney Cruise; Steve actually proposed at Disney World while they were having dinner in Cinderella’s castle! The magic of their love continued with their special Disney destination wedding.

Steve and Meagan had their wedding ceremony on board the cruise ship, the “Disney Dream” in the private event room called the Outlook. The Outlook is located in the top of one of the iconic Disney red smoke stacks. Their wedding ceremony had a spectacular, sun-drenched view from the huge windows. The moments were filled with love, laughter and all the magic one expects from a Disney cruise! Of course, it was mandatory that we got some pictures with the mouse himself. I loved how Meagan and Steve both looked like they were having so much fun in every photograph!

After the ceremony, I stole the bride and groom for some portraits around the ship. We took full advantage of the gorgeous architecture of the different areas on the Disney Dream. As with all things Disney does, the Disney cruise ships are simply spectacular. There is no detail overlooked and I was truly spoiled as a wedding photographer to have so many unique backdrops for photos. From the gorgeous sweeping staircase to the views of the ocean from the balconies, there was something to capture around every corner. And, as the perfect ending to the evening, the sun dipped down into the ocean in a magnificent sunset.

The next day, Steve, Meagan and I ventured out onto Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, in the Bahamas. It was great to be able to capture their love in a more casual way, allowing them to just be happy an in love together in their newlywed bliss. I was happy the asked me to do some post-wedding pictures with them on the island. Getting to spend that extra time with them was so special!

I asked if they had any advice to share with other couples planning a wedding. Meagan shared:
“I would just say, if you’re thinking about doing a destination wedding, just do it. I was nervous at first about our family and close friends not coming, and even though some important people in my life aren’t able to make it, I still have most of the important ones with me. And as simple as it sounds, it’s about you and your significant other, not about anyone else. Do what’s best for you two.”

Meagan and Steve, thank you for inviting me to be a part of your magical love story. I was so fortunate to be able to capture the first moments of your happily ever after. I hope you had a wonderful time on your Disney World honeymoon at at the Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village!

Jessica’s Hartwood Acres Mansion Maternity Session

Hartwood Acres Mansion Maternity Session Krystal Healy Photography

Earlier this February, I had such a wonderful time taking some lovely maternity shots with Mom-To-Be, Jessica, at the Hartwood Acres Mansion in Pittsburgh, PA.

A Mini Maternity Photography Session at the Hartwood Acres Mansion

First off, let me start by saying that Jessica was absolutely glowing the entire maternity mini session! She was giving off pure goddess vibes in her floral print dress and golden sandals. We were taking the photos as both a personal keepsake for her and also for use at her baby shower.

The Hartwood Acres Mansion is an absolutely stunning tuder-style mansion residing in the 629-acre Allergheny County Park in Pennsylvania. It’s construction began in 1927 and ended in 1929. The result was one of the most breathtaking and spectacular county estates in the region. Boasting a total of 31 rooms situated around a beautiful great hall, this slate-roofed stone mansion serves as such a perfect backdrop for literally any elegant photoshoot you could imagine. If you’re a photographer in the area, I highly suggest checking this spot out for your next photo shoot if you haven’t already.

I just loved the photos we got right as the golden hour was at its peak! The sun hung in the air and made Jessica look even more majestic than she already was. It was a true joy being able to photograph Jessica for this maternity shoot. We had such a fantastic time taking the photos and I just know that Jessica is going to be an amazing mother to this new little love. Congrats again, Jessica!

Maternity Photo shoots with Krystal Healy Photography

I always have such an amazing time with maternity shoots. I know pregnancy can be trying at times. 9 months can seem like forever when waiting for these precious little lights to come into the world. So, it’s important to me when doing a maternity session that the mama feels as comfortable and as beautiful as possible.

I strive to make your photo session day as painless as it can be, especially in the later months, so that you can focus on feeling and looking your absolute best! If you’ve been wanting to do a maternity photoshoot, but you’re nervous or you feel like you just don’t have the time, let’s talk about it! I would love to hear from you to. Let’s make the day of your maternity photo session a day to remember!
