Dana and Scott’s St. Bernard Catholic Church Wedding

It was a beautiful day in May when Dana and Scott were married in a beautiful ceremony at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Pittsburgh with a reception at Hilton Garden Inn Southpointe in Canonsburg, PA. It was such a pleasure to be the wedding photographer for their beautiful spring wedding.

Scott and Dana are such a sweet couple and I loved being able to photograph the love that they share. I asked them about how they got engaged and Dana shared the story. Scott had been traveling out of town. He told Dana that his flight wouldn’t be arriving until 10pm… so, Dana went out for the evening. She went to happy hour with her mom and sister and Scott surprised her in Station Square where he proposed.

Fast forward to their beautiful wedding day on May 18. My assistant, Lizzy and I took pictures of Dana and Scott as they prepared for the day. Dana had a first look with her father that really tugged at my heart strings. The reaction he had when he first saw his little girl in her wedding gown was so moving! I love father daughter first looks, they are filled with such tender, sentimental moments.

Once everyone was ready, we made our way to the St. Bernard Catholic Church in Pittsburgh for the ceremony. This church is truly magnificent. It was an unbelievable backdrop for their wedding photography as Dana and Scott said I do. Honestly, the way the light streamed in through the towering stained-glass windows was truly breathtaking.

A Fun-filled Hilton Garden Inn Stonepoint Wedding Reception

After the ceremony, we did wedding portraits outside with the bride, groom and their wedding party. Then it was off to the Hilton Garden Inn Stonepoint for their wedding reception. This couple had a GREAT party. Not a single person sat down the entire night. The dancing just kept going and going. It really was a great crowd of people who really loved Dana and Scott! Not to mention, it was the first time that I have ever heard “Old Time Road” at a wedding, but I have been obsessed with it since then!

Dana and Scott shared that their advice to other couples planning a wedding would be to plan as far in advance as possible. Dana’s favorite part of wedding planning was dress shopping. Scott’s favorite part of the wedding planning process was picking out the alcohol for open bar—which is not only a fun task, but an important one!

Scott and Dana, thank you so much for asking me to be your wedding photographer. I am so happy that I was able to be a part of your fun wedding day. I hope your honeymoon in Antigua was amazing and I wish you both the best of luck in your new life together!

Priya and Mitchell’s Engagement Session

Last November, I was fortunate enough to capture Priya and Mitchell’s beautiful Fall engagement session at McConnell’s Mill State Park in Portersville, PA. These two are so in love and I’m so happy I got to spend the entire day with them!

I was so excited when Priya contacted me to do their engagement session! She actually found me on Instagram @krystalhealyphotography and reached out. Priya wanted to do an outdoor session for their engagement photo shoot and I immediately thought of some of my favorite places — McConnell’s Mill being one of them. Nestled near the old mill and the surrounding walking trails is the picturesque Cleland Rock!

Cleland Rock is an amazing overlook located in McConnell’s Mill State Park. It sits 400 feet above the creek below, atop the rim of the Slippery Rock Creek Gorge.

The view from the overlook is absolutely breathtaking. From the top of the rocks, we were greeted with a gorgeous scenic view down into the Slippery Rock Gorge at its deepest point. It’s almost 400 feet down! We were incredibly lucky to be able to snag a few photos just as the perfect lighting was hitting the rocks!

I loved all of the fall colors that surrounded us during their autumn engagement session. McConnell’s Mill is incredibly gorgeous in the fall, and I wanted to make sure we captured that beauty. Of course, it wasn’t really too hard since Priya and Mitchell are such a beautiful couple!

I can tell these guys really love each other. The way Mitchell stared into Priya’s eyes during a few of the shots, there was no doubt in my mind that these two were going to make an incredible married couple. It just felt like it came so easy to them.

Mitchell and Priya, I’m so excited for the two of you! Thank you so much for letting me capture these wonderful moments on film. After this shooting this engagement session, I just know you two have what it takes to keep your love strong.

Kory & Angela’s Fall Engagement Session

I had an amazing time late last October shooting an awesome fall engagement session for Kory and Angela at Riverfront Weddings near Aspinwall Park, PA. We had an absolute blast! It was great getting to spend the day with them. These two are so in love!

Angela and Kory are just so magnetic! They fit together perfectly. I was so excited to do this shoot and get to know them a little more before their big city wedding at Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh.

Better yet, they picked one of the venues they had toured as a spot for their engagement session — Riverfront Weddings and Aspinwall Park! It’s relatively new and I have been dying to shoot there for ages. When we discussed doing the engagement session there, I was beyond ecstatic!

Riverfront Weddings is just a great venue all around. They have a fantastic dock that is great for taking pictures, especially while the sun is setting. They boast sort of a contemporary approach to wedding venues. The architecture is very modern and minimal while being enveloped by the natural beauty of the surrounding areas. Needless to say, it’s the perfect spot for any and all wedding events. I was so glad they let us shoot the engagement session there!

We went in late October when we finally got a touch of color on the leaves and it was pure magic. I loved all of the sun-drenched images we got. It will be a good contrast to their big city wedding over in the Rivers Casino!

Kory and Angela, I can’t wait for the big day! I know this was just a taste, but I’m so excited for the two of you! You two are so in love and it really shows. Keep on being awesome and I’ll see you both soon!

Carson and Natalies Engagement session Deep Creek Lake

In early October of last year, I got do an amazing little forest engagement session with Carson and Natalie at Deep Creek Lake and Swallow Falls State Park in Maryland. This was one adventurous couple and I’m so glad I got to spend the day with them taking photos in preparation for their big day in 2020!

When Carson and Natalie booked me as their wedding photographer for the upcoming 2020 wedding at The Grand Estate at Hidden Acres, they told me about their idea for an engagement session — Deep Creek Lake! I couldn’t have said yes fast enough.

Deep Creek Lake is a local family vacation spot located in the mountains of Western Maryland. Due to the mountain climate, Deep Creek has four distinctly beautiful seasons, giving Maryland vacationers plenty to do all year round. From boating and swimming in the Summer months to Skiing in the Winter, it really is a great place for any family to experience if they’re looking to just get away for a little while. Carson and Natalie’s engagement session was in the fall, so there were plenty of greens, yellows and oranges throughout the treetops as we hiked.

Carson grew up coming to Deep Creek Lake with his family every summer. And since Natalie has joined the family, she’s been able to go with them a few times as well. Having their engagement session at Deep Creek Lake was definitely a choice that held a lot of sentimental value — those are ALWAYS my favorites!

There are several state parks around the lake, so we went up to Swallow Falls State Park to capture some of the wonderful shots we got. Then we went up the mountain for some of the beautiful views in the photos. When I said adventurous, I meant it! When I was climbing up the falls, they were climbing right along with me.

We really got some amazing images around Swallow Falls. Tall Hemlock trees cover a vast majority of the woods and the entire state park really does have some of the most breathtaking scenery in western Maryland. We decided to wrap our day of hiking and taking photos by enjoying some incredibly delicious pizza from a local spot nearby. Had to refuel somehow!

I am so excited about how the photos turned out. Carson and Natalie show so much love for one another and I feel I was really able to capture it in these pictures. Thank you, Carson and Natalie, for letting me experience this awesome day with the two of you. Can’t wait to help you celebrate your Grand Estate at Hidden Acres wedding in 2020!
