Katie & Stephen – Mexican War Streets

On July 16th I met up with Katie and Stephen at Allegheny Park and the Mexican War Streets in Pittsburgh, PA to photograph their engagement session. I loved spending time photographing this couple’s sweet engagement portraits and I can’t wait for their upcoming University Club wedding!

Allegheny Park Engagement Photography

I met these two over at the Allegheny Commons park to start their engagement session! They brought their adorable pup with them, too… So, really… we did family portraits, not just engagement portraits!! I love the fur babies! Stephen proposed to Katie at Allegheny Park, so it had a lot of special, emotional significance to this couple. We had a ton of fun. Plus, the park is simply beautiful this time of year. With its acres of walking paths, beautiful old trees, and interesting stone walls, it’s a perfect setting for engagement photos. I loved taking pictures of these two lovebirds walking down by the water. You can tell with the way they look at each other exactly how in love they are!

Mexican War Streets Portrait Session

After we had a blast wandering around Allegheny Park, we headed across the street to the Mexican War Streets just as the sun was starting to set. Despite the name, the Mexican War Streets in Pittsburgh is a charming, historic area. The beautiful old row-homes and quaint tree-lined streets give this entire neighborhood a historic look and feel that was perfect for engagement photos! The light was just right as Katie and Stephen strolled through the neighborhood and I grabbed some sweet sunset photos of the two of them.

Kelli and Adam’s Idlewild Park Engagement Session

On July 16th I met up with Kelli and Adam to photograph their Idlewild Engagement Session at Idlewild Park in Ligonier, PA. This is a session that has a backstory! I’m so psyched to share their story and these fun engagement photos on the blog today!

Engagement Photography at Idlewild Park

So, I am going to be photographing Kelli and Adam’s Shannopin Country Club wedding soon… but first, I had their engagement session to photograph! When we were chatting together about possible locations for their engagement session, they suggested, “How about where we first met?”

Curious, I asked them, “Okay, so where did you first meet?” I about died when they told me they first met at Idlewild! How ADORABLE is that?? For those of you who don’t know, Idlewild is a family-friendly classic amusement park in Pittsburgh. I was SO excited to take these pictures and even more excited to share them!

There were so many rides and attractions that we could use as backdrops for this engagement session that I didn’t know where to begin! Of course, I had to make sure I took pictured of Kelli and Adam on the carousel! I love how those turned out… We wandered around the park together, making photos and just enjoying the day. These two are just so SWEET together. I loved being able to get to know them a little bit better and to enjoy how much in love they are. When they fed each other ice cream under a tree, my heart swelled a little bit. It felt like a scene in a Hallmark movie, it was just so cute.

Kelli and Adam, I had so much fun photographing you two at this Idlewild engagement session. I can’t wait until I can photograph your wedding at Shannopin Country Club! Considering how amazing these photos turned out, I am sure that the wedding photos will be just as fun to capture! Thank you for asking me to be your photographer!

Derrick & Sarah – Circuit Center Wedding

Derrick and Sarah were married on July 27th with a ceremony at St. Alexis Church in Wexford, PA and a beautiful wedding reception at the Circuit Center and Ballroom in Pittsburgh, PA. My husband, Ben, was a groomsman in this wedding, so it was such an honor to be the wedding photographer for this Pittsburgh wedding. While every wedding is special, it was wonderful to be a part of this one, knowing the bond Derrick and Ben share.

The sun shone brightly for Derrick and Sarah’s wedding day, streaming in through the windows at the Springhill Suites [link https://ift.tt/3c8fAnV] where the groom and his groomsmen got ready. Sarah and her bridesmaids got ready at Sarah’s family home, and I loved capturing some pictures in front of the photo wall. Generations of family photos smiled down at the bride and her ladies as they prepared for this special day. Sarah and her father shared a first look and it doesn’t matter how many father-daughter first looks I photograph, every single one tugs at my heart. The moment he saw his little girl… all grown up and ready to walk down the aisle… it was so emotional!

When we arrived at St. Alexis Church in Wexford, Sarah and Derrick didn’t have a first look, but they shared a moment ahead of the ceremony. I positioned them on either side of a corner so they couldn’t see each other, but they could hold hands and hear each other. I was there to sneak a few photos as they shared a beautiful private moment together. The pictures really speak for themselves as to the sweet and tender conversation they had before their wedding ceremony. Of course, the reaction when they saw one another as Sarah made her grand entrance walking down the aisle was even more emotionally charged! They both cried happy tears.

I love photographing weddings at St. Alexis church because it’s just so unique! I love how the ceiling is painted to look like the sky. Each of the lights shimmered like little stars even as the light streamed through the stained-glass windows. It was magical.

Derrick and Sarah’s Circuit Center Wedding Reception

After we captured some wedding portraits with the happy bride and groom, we adjourned to the Circuit Center for the continued celebration. The Circuit Center Ballroom was transformed with gorgeous shimmering gold tablecloths, tiny glimmering tealights, and exquisite floral arrangements from the team at Sapphire and Lace Design. [link https://ift.tt/3iyEjUT]. The ballroom was such an elegant backdrop to capture Derrick and Sarah’s love.

Sarah, Derrick, I am so happy I was here to photograph the very first moments of your happily ever after. It was such a pleasure to be your wedding photographer!
