Bo & Tori’s DoubleTree Cranberry Wedding

Bo and Tori were married on May 26^th, 2018, with a ceremony at Saints John and Paul Catholic Church and a reception at DoubleTree Cranberry.

Bo actually proposed when these two were visiting friends in Aiken, South Carolina. They all went out one Friday night and stopped to get some drinks before dinner at the famous hotel Willcox. Tori and her friend were at the bar when her friend’s husband said the boys were looking for them outside. When Tori walked out, a pianist was playing while all of their friends were gathered to watch Bo get down on one knee. They all went out to celebrate at a private room at the Green Boundary Club after that!

Once they were engaged, they hardly had to think twice about where they wanted to get married. They had both belonged to Saints John and Paul Parish since they were little kids, and what’s more, Tori’s father actually helped to build the church! With so much history there, how could they get married anywhere else?

In addition to having the ceremony at the church, we set up a first look at the church, which resulted in some of my favorite portraits of the day. They are moodier than my normal images, but I think that’s why I love them. There was a small chapel “grotto” downstairs below the main sanctuary that looked like something out of The Little Mermaid, which was right up my alley as a Disney fanatic!

My second shooter and associate photographer, Lizzy, and I had no shortage of touching details to photograph. It was obvious that Tori and Bo wanted this day to go perfectly for everyone, including their guests—and considering the homemade cookies that we got to eat, I’d say they knocked that out of the park! But even in the smaller details, like the jewelry from their parents and grandparents, they were always sure to keep friends and family close. I loved that about them.

Tori & Bo, I am so glad to have been a small part of your day! It was a true celebration.

Ryan & Jordan’s Armstrong Farms Wedding

Ryan and Jordan were married on May 19^th, with a ceremony and reception at the Armstrong Farms at the Westminster Preserve.

This was the kind of wedding I love to photograph: everyone was laid-back and relaxed and really enjoying themselves. That’s perfect for those genuine wedding images, because a more relaxed atmosphere means you aren’t smiling through all the stress of the day—you’re smiling because you’re having fun and enjoying the wedding!

It’s a good thing that everyone was so easygoing, too, because we had a small hiccough in the plans when the skies opened up and poured rain on us before the ceremony. Lizzy, my associate photographer and second shooter, and I had managed to get some great shots of everyone getting ready beforehand, and, determined to keep up that streak, we followed the group as we all redirected to the barn, where there would have been dancing later anyway. Jordan wasn’t even fazed! And the rain even cleared up for just long enough to give us an amazing double rainbow when it started up again—surely a sign of good luck and great things to come!

Despite the rain, we had so many chances to get excellent photos together. I especially loved the night shot, though I’m partial to night shoots because I get to be a touch more creative. But Jordan’s willingness to run with anything meant there was no way we wouldn’t get those amazing shots, too!

Watching Jordan walk down the aisle with her dad was a real treat, too. Just look at the photo! Everyone there that day got swept up in the emotion of that moment. I still smile looking back at this picture.

Jordan & Ryan, thank you for having me along to photograph your wedding. I was at the REAL royal wedding that day. Thanks also to Westminster for letting us use your brand new tent!
